Glen Eden
Glen Eden is 15km from Auckland Central, and is close to the SH16 motorway. It's neighbouring suburbs are Kelston, Glendene, New Lynn, and Titirangi, and on the cusp of the Waitakeres. Glen Eden has a lot of sports facilities and parks, and there are walks such as the Glen Eden Bush and Stream walk and Waikumete Cemetery Circuit walk. Waikumete Cemetery, north of Glen Eden is the biggest cemetery in New Zealand.
Glen Eden Village has all necessary amenities with a hardware store, local grocer, and supermarkets, and also the quirky book store and cafe, The Book Exchange. It has also refurbished its library and has its own Playhouse Theatre where local productions are staged. Glen Eden Train station which has also been restored, is located on West Coast Road, as well as bus as a transport option makes it very accessible to the Auckland City Centre. Glen Eden's schools are Glen Eden Primary, Glen Eden Intermediate, and Konini Primary Schools. There are also excellent high schools Kelston Girls' College, and Kelston Boys High School nearby. Houses in this area are 1930's art deco houses, brick and tile and weatherboard bungalows.
