Hillsborough
Hillsborough is 10 km from central Auckland, and has easy access to the airport and motorways. It is a lovely leafy suburb, and is known for the historical Pah Homestead (pictured above), which also provides cultural events and art exhibitions to the community. Its neighbouring suburbs are Mount Roskill, Onehunga, Royal Oak and Three Kings, which also provide shopping and amenities. Nearby is Bunnings, Warehouse Stationary, The Warehouse and Royal Oak Shopping Mall with a PaknSave supermarket.
Hillsborough has extremely good schools Mt Roskill Grammar and Marcellin College servicing the area, and this is why the suburb proves to be popular with families. Houses in this area are typically spacious, brick and tile or weatherboard, with many having magnificent sea views. It has many parks which are perfect for outdoor and recreational activities including the public swimming pool at Keith Hay Park. On the border with Onehunga is the wonderfully new parkland area along the coastline perfect for family activities like biking, walking and fishing.
